At OrthoSport Health Center we look at how your body functions all together. Your knee or back may be hurting, but is that the only area that causes your pain? Knee pain can be a direct result of back and hip dysfunction. This can only be determined by a thorough and complete examination.

Dr. Roskosky addresses 3 basic factors that should be considered when assessing your health problems. These include:

• Structural: This deals with factors associated with all tissues of the
body. These tissues include nerves, bones, muscles, ligaments
and tendons. They can become damaged from repetitive
movements, sport activities, accidents and poor body condition.

• Chemical: Malnutrition, chronic exposure to allergens, poor
chemical function inside the body, pesticides and other items you
ingest can cause poor health that can contribute or even be a
cause of low energy, sore muscles, achy joints and many other
conditions.

• Mental: There is no question that a person’s mental attitude
affects his/her health. Have you ever had a headache that got
better once you were doing something you enjoyed? Techniques
can be employed to decrease levels of tension, stress and
emotional upset that can have a healing effect on your health
concerns.

When there is constant structural strain, it may adversely influence an
individual’s emotions. Emotions affect the digestive system, which interferes with normal digestion of the food a person eats; because of this the chemical nature becomes involved and a nutritional deficiency may develop. Muscle weakness may result that increase the structural strain, creating a vicious cycle. A thorough examination and treatment of any of these contributing factors can give you a better result with healing your health issues.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is based upon the concept that the nervous system coordinates all of the body's functions and that disease results from a lack of normal nerve function. Improper motion or position of the moving bones of the spine (called a subluxation) can interfere with signals sent from the spinal cord to the brain. Misalignment and nerve pressure can cause problems not only in the local area, but also at some distance from it.

Chiropractic employs manipulation and adjustment of body structures, such as the spinal column, so that pressure on nerves coming from the spinal cord due to a subluxation can be corrected and relieved. Health often returns with improved nervous system control of the body.
